Cefalù

Cefalù is an old Sicilian fishing village that has become a destination for day-trippers and beach-goers from Palermo and surrounding areas.
On Saturday we took a one hour train ride from Palermo to visit it. Cefalù is a charming village, full of enticing shops, colorful ceramics, flowers, historic buildings, cobblestone streets, gelato stands, and tourists...lots of tourists, with the high prices you would expect.
We spent the afternoon strolling the main streets of the historical area, had lunch, and were back in Palermo before nightfall.
Here are some more photos from our excursion:

I'm wondering Gloria that what you are experiencing is a very different place than when your grandparents lived there....at least economically....as I imagine they were probably quite poor...yet I could be wrong. It's a wonderful exploration of your family's past
